The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s. During that time, people grew up listening to Elvis Presley and The Beatles, drove mustangs, went to drive-in movies and did mutation things without technology, kindred we use now. The tone of this story is sympathy, yet frustrated, like they do a lot in the book. Some moods in the story would be anger, fear and sadness. In The Outsiders, its socs, the rich kids, against the greasers, the short(p) kids.
Yes, the greasers may have greasy hair, ratty clothes and not a lot of money, but that doesnt make them different from anyone else on the inside. Well, thats not what the socs think. They believe theyre better, because they all have girlfriends, nice mustangs and theyre rich. both the socs and the greasers can agree that the town of Tulsa is divided between the two groups: one group on the east side and the some other group on the west side. But when the rival mettlesome comes around thatll be trouble for both groups.
