I have been pleased to come from a family with a strong belief in service to the people of Memphis. I was born in Memphis and have lived here my whole life. I am the third oldest in a family of six children. Four of my siblings were adopted and the experience of take them into the family was a wonderful life-changing time in my life.
My family and I are active members of Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC). I am involved with the youthfulness ministry and currently pursuing a place on the Student Advisory and Leadership team (SALT). The SALT program challenges and equips students in being leaders at heart the student ministry. Additionally, on Wednesdays, I serve in the childrens ministry helping teach 3rd through 5th brand bible studies.
It has been great to really get to know and go along time with these kids.
During the past two summers, I have served at week-long camps at Service Over Self (SOS) in Memphis with the youth ministry from CUMC. SOS serves the inner-city communities of Binghampton and Orange Mound by repairing houses within these communities. The camps tested me on how strong of a person I could be. We worked long onerous days in the summer heat doing things like removing zoster on roofs and replacing floors. Seeing some of the conditions that people live in was sad but then being competent to help them was very rewarding.
